Essie - Lapis of Luxury

I recently saw Lapis of Luxury on a coworker and had to have it immediately. This cornflower blue jelly is slightly grayed out in real life, with a subtle hint of lavender that is nearly impossible to capture in a photo. These gray and lavender undertones are what make this polish a complete win for me. The second photo is a bit more accurate color wise.

Here it is with a coat of China Glaze - Black Mesh. This is a fun but I currently love Lapis too much to justify covering it with anything.

  1. Hey! I have this polish and I love the color. Honestly though, I think that the polish goes on too thin and I have to put on like 3-4 coats in order to get an even finish or it looks too thin or streaky. It's not a terrible thing, but I find that the more coats I put on, the easier it is to chip, which is an issue because I only have time to do my nails once a week so I would like them to last for a full seven days.

I do love the color though. It's a nice spring/summer style.

    Love,

  2. Hey Ber!

Yeah, it is a jelly (pigment in clear base) which means you def need at least 3 coats for coverage, but I like the overall finish better than a creme polish (pigment in white base, which can come across as chalky with pastel colors). Try maybe 2 thin coats and a final thick one? I haven't had too much trouble with this color chipping, then again I rarely wear a polish for more than 3-4 days.
